Compton 1944, high school, collge, sororities, , 10, 9, 8. 1940’s high school annual featuring Brooklyn Dodgers all time great Duke Snider as a high school senior, in varsity football, basketball and baseball, and voted best athlete. Also photoed eight times is graduating high school senior and future popular NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle who particepated in basketball and tennis and clubs. Hall of Famer Duke Snider b. 1926, affectionately remembered as the “Duke of Flatbush, ” was an 8-time All Star, a 6-time Top 10 MVP candidate, went six times to the World Series and winning twice, in 1955 and 1959. He hit 407 homeruns, had a. 540 slugging percentage, and is the only player to hit four or more home runs in two different world series. He led the league in different years for RBIs, Home Runs, Runs, On Base Percentage, and Total bases. And he is one of only two players in the 1950s with at least 1000 runs batted in. He was voted 1963 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.
